Welcome Kindergarten Families!
Greetings families! We are so excited that your student will be attending Evergreen Primary School. I would like to share some important information and dates with you to help you and your child prepare for kindergarten. You will also begin receiving all school emails throughout August and leading up to the first day of school as well.
Kindergarten Readiness Assessment Day
On Tuesday, August 15th we will be hosting our Kindergarten Readiness Assessment Day from 8:00-3:00. This is an opportunity to help your student transition to kindergarten, visit the school and connect with teachers. When you arrive we will help walk your student to a kindergarten classroom where they will work independently with our kindergarten teachers on some readiness assessments. These assessments help us learn about each student so we can ensure that we create balanced classes and every student is in an environment where they can thrive and be successful.
Kindergarten is a big step for both students and families, we realize there may be some anxious feelings. Parents will wait in the classroom next door while students rotate through the stations, but you are welcome to walk them to the door. This helps our team gain a better understanding of how students will function independently in a classroom setting. During this time parents will have the opportunity to meet staff, learn more about PTSA, share information about their student and get to know Evergreen. Please make sure to sign up for a time slot as soon as possible. You can either select your student's name or write in their first and last name in the note section of the sign-up. If you have more than one student starting kindergarten, please choose one time slot per student.
It is highly encouraged for all kindergarteners to participate in this event. We look forward to meeting you and your student!
Teacher Placement and Staggered Start Date
On Friday, August 18th each family will receive their students teacher placement and staggered start date. You will receive an email as well as a mailed letter. Kindergarten students are staggered over the first 3 days. A third of the students will attend on the first day, another third on the second day and so forth. This helps create an easier transition for all students. On Tuesday, September 5th all kindergarten students will attend.
Evergreen Welcome Back Event
On Thursday, August 24th is our annual Welcome Back Event from 3:00-4:00! This is an opportunity to meet your student’s teacher, visit their classroom, and tour the building. You are also able to drop off school supplies, you can find the school supply list here.
Family Connections Meetings
On Friday, August 25th and Monday, August 28th from 8:00-2:30 we will be hosting individual Family Connections meetings. Each family will schedule a meeting with their student’s teacher. This is an opportunity to gather information about your student and how we can ensure that they have a successful experience. You will receive a link to sign up for a slot using ParentSquare when you receive your teacher placement and staggered start date.
